The figure at the top of this page converts the international Cynk benchmark into a price per Gram, expressed in złoty polski. Industrial metals are quoted on exchanges in tonnes or in cents per pound, which is convenient for traders and useless for a fabricator pricing a job. Converting to a per-Gram figure lets you multiply straight through by the mass of the material you need.

Because it tracks the live market, this number changes throughout the trading day. Global Cynk trading is effectively continuous from the Asian open through to the New York close, so a rate you noted in the morning may no longer hold by the afternoon. Anyone quoting or accepting a price for a large quantity should refresh the page immediately before committing rather than relying on a figure carried over from the previous session.

Quoting in the wrong unit is one of the most common sources of costly errors in metal procurement. A factor-of-1,000 slip between grams and kilograms, or between kilograms and tonnes, survives surprisingly far into a purchase order before anyone notices. Fixing the unit at the start of the conversation, and confirming it on the invoice, removes an entire class of dispute.

Physical form also affects what you pay above the exchange rate. Cathode, ingot, rod, sheet and scrap all reference the same underlying benchmark but trade at different premiums or discounts reflecting processing, purity guarantees and logistics. The benchmark is global, but the price you are offered in Polska is not. Exchange rates come first: when the local currency weakens against the US dollar, the złoty polski price of Cynk rises even if the dollar quote has not moved at all. Import duty, sales tax or VAT, refining and assay charges, freight and insurance, and simple local demand each add their own layer on top.

That is why comparing a shop's counter price directly against this page will usually show a gap, and why the size of that gap — not the headline number — is the thing to shop around on. Ask each supplier to break out the metal value and the margin separately. Once the metal value is fixed by this page, the conversation becomes a straightforward comparison of two or three margins.

For a production run, multiply the per-Gram rate by the mass you need to get the raw material cost, then treat the supplier's premium as a separate line.
