The figure at the top of this page is the raw metal value of 10K Emas, calculated from the international spot price and the 41.7% metal content of that alloy. Nothing else is baked into it: no workshop labour, no dealer margin, no tax. That makes it the cleanest possible reference point, because it isolates the one component of a jewellery or bullion quote that nobody can negotiate — the value of the metal you are actually buying.

Because it tracks the live market, this number changes throughout the trading day. Global Emas trading is effectively continuous from the Asian open through to the New York close, so a rate you noted in the morning may no longer hold by the afternoon. Anyone quoting or accepting a price for a large quantity should refresh the page immediately before committing rather than relying on a figure carried over from the previous session.

10K means 41.7% pure Emas; the remainder is alloy metal added for hardness, colour or cost. Two items of identical mass therefore carry very different metal values if their stamps differ, and the gap is strictly proportional. This is why a shop can honestly advertise a "cheaper" piece that is simply lower in purity — the price per gram falls because you are buying less metal, not because you found a better deal.

Purity also determines how the piece behaves in daily use. Higher-purity Emas is softer and scratches or bends more readily, which is why many jewellers steer buyers towards mid-range alloys for rings and bracelets worn every day, and reserve the highest fineness for investment pieces and items kept in storage. The right choice depends on whether you are buying to wear or buying to hold value.

The benchmark is global, but the price you are offered in Malaysia is not. Import duty, sales tax or VAT, refining and assay charges, freight and insurance, and simple local demand each add their own layer on top.
