About Gold
Gold (chemical symbol Au, from Latin aurum) is the oldest monetary metal in human history. Coins of nearly pure gold were struck in Lydia almost 2,700 years ago, and central banks still hold more than 35,000 tonnes of it as a strategic reserve asset today.
